In May, 2023 OpenDoors began operating over 120 beds of shelter for the unhoused community in Rhode Island at the Motel 6 in Warwick. OpenDoors was able to create a safe and supportive home for those in need, house over a third more people than we were contracted to house, all while minimizing neighbor concerns.
Thank you to Governor Dan McKee, Housing Secretary Stefan Pryor, and Mayor Frank Picozzi of Warwick for making this successful project possible and allowing us to provide opportunities to so many Rhode Islanders in need.
The OpenDoors Motel 6 Shelter operates individual and couple shelter rooms at the Motel 6 on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick. Beds are all referred through the Coordinated Entry System (CES) which can be reached at 401-277-4316.
The program provides three meals a day, case management and peer recovery coaching, and access to other OpenDoors programming.
