Tyrone wanted to start a food truck. But first, he needed a roof over his head. “I was battling a court case for a few years,” he says. “It was my brick wall for finding shelter.” Tyrone was referred to OpenDoors by his confinement counselor, where he met with case manager Lynn Fenner to discuss housing solutions. She flagged him as a candidate for a new program she was tasked with developing: Master Leasing. In February of 2025 Lynn found the perfect property: a white house on a quiet street with a porch, a spacious backyard, and ample parking. The program welcomed its first tenants in March, and now Tyrone is one of six men who call the property their home. “Hopefully, this is my final stop on the journey with OpenDoors and Master Leasing,” Tyrone says. “From here, I'd like to find my own housing.”
