Jessica came to Foundations, the OpenDoors recovery house for women, in May 2025. She had struggled with addiction for sixteen years, had been incarcerated more than once, and had lost custody of her three children.

At Foundations she joined the She Thrives GLP-1 program, which pairs the medication with recovery housing and case management. Within a few months, the cravings that had followed her for years had faded. “I have not only lost weight but I’ve gotten stronger in my recovery,” she says. “I used to have a pit in my stomach when I thought about drugs. I had drug dreams. They are gone.”

Eight months after she arrived, Jessica was living in her own apartment, had been promoted at work, and was spending Fridays with her children. Her recovery was featured in The New York Times.
