Checkmate OpenDoors: Chess Tournament Fundraiser

March 13, 2019 - 1:21pm

First OpenDoors Chess Tournament--Saturday, June 1st

Many of our clients seriously play chess in prison and then continue competing after their release. On June 1st at 10:00 AM, OpenDoors hosted its first chess tournament to highlight our clients who love to play. The event was a huge success, brining together players from all over the state that love the game.

First Prize: minimum of $150, Second Prize: $25, but you must pay at least $10 entry fee to play for the prize.

All proceeds from this event will go to support the work of OpenDoors helping people who have been in prison, and the event will also be a great time and help draw attention to the talented chess players we work with. As a fundraiser, this event is similar to the 5K Race Pledge Drives. If you don't want to play, but you want to support our work, please donate to help cover the entrance fee of a player, or even better, collect pledges from your family and friends.
